New VP Dale Baker continues traditions, plans innovations for J.T. Eaton

TWINSBURG, OHIO ‑- Dale Baker has accepted the position of vice president of sales for J.T. Eaton Co., Inc. Baker is now the third generation of Bakers at J.T. Eaton, starting with his late grandfather, Hall of Famer Stanley Z. Baker, who purchased the business in 1949 and developed such products as STICK-EM glue traps and the first wax-based rodenticide, which he termed “Bait Blocks.”

Stanley Baker’s dedication and business savvy took the fledgling rodenticide company into a million-dollar business. While his two sons, Benjamin and Bart Baker, are still heavily involved with J.T. Eaton as vice presidents, they are looking to the future with bringing Bart’s son, Dale, on board.

“This company meant the world to my grandfather, and my grandfather meant the world to me,” Dale Baker says. “All my life seems like practice for the moment I got on board.”

Baker has more than 10 years’ experience with sales and marketing, including with his grandfather’s last business venture, Scent-Off Products.

“The three years I spent with my grandfather were magical. I learned from the maestro,” he says of Stanley, who passed away in August 2005. “I also had the opportunity to have a route in Florida selling pest control and retail products for J.T. Eaton.”

Dale Baker hopes to have a major impact on the way in which J.T. Eaton conducts business. He’s an aggressive instigator who has launched several products outside the pest control industry with tremendous success. Now, at the age of 33, he’s planning on taking the family company to the next level.

“This industry is in my blood. I cut my teeth in that factory. I’ve been going to trade shows since I was 6. I’m home,” he says. “I’m driven to make this company better because this is not only my family’s business, but all the families of the people who work here. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
