JT Eaton awards scholarship

TWINSBURG , OHIO – JT Eaton & Co., Inc. continues its support of the Purdue University Department of Entomology in West Lafayette, Ind., by sponsoring a $2,500 scholarship.

This year’s recipient is Anne Radavich, a graduate student at the university currently working toward her master’s degree in entomology. She was awarded the scholarship at the 69th Purdue Pest Management Conference’s annual banquet Jan. 12.

While she has some experience in urban pest management, Radavich is focusing on entomology education. Her master’s project includes developing materials to teach blind students about insects.

“I have been working with seventh-grade biology classes at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for a year,” she explains. “I teach the lessons, and the kids help me test out the materials and learn about insects. The final plan is to not only have developed lessons that are available to interested teachers, but to also learn some good techniques to use when teaching visually impaired or blind students.”
